Townsman, McCandless, Moore, & Collin Walcott (percussion, sitar, tabla) met as members of globe music pioneer Paul Winter's "Consort" ensemble in the late 1960s. It broke out of Winter within 1970 to form their have class action, Oregon, which it known as when Townsman's & Moore's residence state.
